Ingredients:

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • Coarse sea salt, for topping

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir to combine.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on the baking sheet.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic and chopped rosemary. Brush the garlic and rosemary mixture over the top of the loaf.
  7. Cover the loaf loosely with plastic wrap and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, until slightly puffed.
  8. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Once the dough has finished rising, sprinkle coarse sea salt over the top of the loaf.
  10. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
